Kevin has been practising law for 30 years with his experience encompassing multiple areas:
- Commercial and property transactions
- Civil litigation
- Business and real estate settlements
- Family law
- Wills and probate
- Criminal law
Kevin graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986 and became a full-time church worker with tertiary student movements. In 1990, he was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore and commenced practice as a personal injury lawyer.
In 1992, Kevin joined the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Hong Kong as an appeals lawyer representing asylum seekers. He later worked for the UNHCR in Singapore on an ad-hoc basis.
Kevin was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 2005, joined Robertson Hayles Lawyers in 2008, then becoming a director in 2009.
Community Involvement
Kevin believes that the law should be accessible to the public and has been involved with many organisations providing pro bono legal advice. He is currently a volunteer lawyer with the Perth Branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau, a community legal organisation and a Board Member of The Association of Services for Torture and Trauma Survivors (ASeTTS), a West Australian organisation providing services to refugees to rebuild their lives.
His previous involvement included the following organisations: –
- Committee member for the Law Society’s Criminal Legal Aid Scheme in Singapore.
- Committee member for the Jesuit Refugee Service in Singapore.
- Vice President of the Australian Eurasian Association of Western Australia.
- Board Member for Case for Refugees, an organisation that previously existed in Western Australia providing pro-bono legal services to asylum seekers, humanitarian entrants and refugees.
